Bio

MISSION IN BLACK is a German five-piece melodic death metal band from Baden-Württemberg that has been forging ist relentless path since 2010. Their driving sound combines metallic aggression with epic depth – an explosive blend of melodic death and thrash metal.
The band’s style is defined by the powerful and versatile vocals of singer Steffi Stuber, catchy headbanging riffs, harmonized guitar leads, and an unstoppable rhythm section.
Founded by Andy Flache (drums), Daniel Tschoepe (guitar), Martin Grimm and Hannes Jäger, the band released their dirst demo Black Infect in 2011, which quickly led to live shows with bands such as Brainstorm and Mystic Prophecy. Despite several lineup changes, MISSION IN BLACK continued to evolve steadily, culminating in the release of their first full-length album Anthems Of A Dying Breed in 2018 via El Puerto Records.
Another major milestone followed in 2023 with the release of their second album Profit Reigns Supreme, which was released on May 12 and produced at the renowned Greenman Studios by Sebastian „Seeb“ Levermann (Orden Ogan, Rhapsody Of Fire, Brainstorm). The accompanying music videos for What Does It Take To Be Alive (over 74.000 views) and the
title track Profit Reigns Supreme (over 25.000 views) underline the strong response to the album.
In 2023 and 2024, MISSION IN BLACK further expanded their national and international live presence. In addition to appearances at festivals such as Rage Against Racism (with Rage, Brainstorm, Motorjesus), Upper Saw Festival, Mammut Festival, and Winter Invasion (headliner-slot), the band joined Nightrage as a special guest on a mini tour. Further highlights followed in 2024, including performances at the AAARGH Festival, Area 53 Festival in Austria (with Amorphis), Bongert Open Air (with Visions Of Atlantis), as well as shows in Belgium (Metal Babes Festival) and Hungary (mini tour with Red To Grey).
A special highlight was the El Puerto Records Label Night on November 30, 2024, where MISSION IN BLACK performed as co-headliners alongside David Reece, celebrating the label’s 10th anniversary.
Beyond the stage, the band also takes a clear stand: since 2024, MISSION IN BLACK have been official ambassadors of the Captain Paul Watson Foundation Germany e.V., actively supporting marine conservation. They also regularly perform at charity events such as Rock für die 14, and the ROW Charity Festival (2025).
2025 and 2026 mark the next chapter in the band’s evolution.
Live, MISSION IN BLACK presented themselves stronger than ever in 2025, with festival appearances at the Easter Cross Festival (with April Art, Equilibrium), the Castle Rock Festival (with Katatonia, Warkings, Leaves‘ Eyes), and the Metalacker Festival (with The Halo Effect, Emil Bulls, Ensiferum). International shows followed at the CHPF Festival in the Czech Republic, where they’ll return in 2026 for Woodstock Borkovany again. In addition, MISSION IN BLACK joined Rage as special guests on the A New World Rising Tour.
In April 2026, the band will release their third studio album Divinity Of Lies (release date: April 24, 2026), once again mixed and mastered by Sebastian „Seeb“ Levermann. The first single Rise, including a music video, will be released on February 26, 2026.
A major live highlight will be their performance at the RVBang Festival in Balingen, where MISSION IN BLACK will share the stage in 2026 with renowned acts such as Michael Schenker, Sonata Arctica and Tankard.
With this momentum, MISSION IN BLACK have firmly established themselves as a force in modern melodic death metal – without compromises, committed and always moving in one direction: forward.
